There may also be a discharge, odor or red inflammation—these are all possible symptoms of an ear infection. Check your dog’s ears weekly. Check for fleas, ticks and other symptoms. There are many things that can cause problems—bacteria and yeast infections (check for odor), parasites, allergies, hypothryoidism, or a foreign body. Don’t use a Q-tip or alcohol as it might hurt your dog. If it isn’t obvious what is causing the problem, see your veterinarian.
